Las Cucharas and Playa Bastián beaches in Costa Teguise have reopened this Tuesday after being closed last Sunday due to the passage of tropical storm Hermine.

According to the Councilor for Security and Works of the City Council, Eugenio Robayna, on Radio Lanzarote-Onda Cero, the water that fell on Sunday caused the sewers next to those two beaches to overflow again.

As usual, in addition to the mud that comes from the Hurón ravine that flows into Las Cucharas, the sewer near the Salinas hotel overflows, releasing fecal spills, so bathing was prohibited until it was cleaned. Regarding Playa Bastián, the rain that fell this Monday afternoon also caused the sewers to overflow and it had to be closed as well.

Eugenio Robayna has stated that "until those sewers are removed from those areas there will be no solution", and has announced that there is already a project for it.
