An abandoned house on Coronel Bens street in Arrecife has suffered a fire, as reported by the Lanzarote Emergency Consortium.
The fire occurred around 5:45 p.m., when CECOES was alerted. Agents of the Local Police, National Police and firefighters have moved to the scene.
The flames and the large column of smoke have caused moments of tension among the residents of the area. The police officers have cordoned off the street and kept the adjacent commercial premises closed with customers inside to preserve the safety of citizens.
Once on the scene, the firefighters found a widespread fire with flames coming out of one of the windows. They proceeded to enter the interior and extinguish it with water and foam.
To finish, the troops have bricked up the windows and accessed the adjoining building to check the houses since a lot of smoke had entered the interior.
