Serious aggression of an inmate to another in the Tahíche prison, causing a cut "from the ear to the jaw"

The Acaip union points out that the cut was made with "the lid of a can of mussels" and again denounce the presence of dangerous inmates in modules that are not prepared for it.

The union section in the Tahiche Penitentiary Center of the Association of Bodies of the Penitentiary Administration (Acaip) has denounced a "very serious" aggression by one inmate against another, causing a cut on the face "from the ear to the jaw."

According to the union, the events took place in module 5 at around 5:30 p.m. this Sunday, when inmate J.J.S.R. approached the officials' booth "to talk to them." That moment was taken advantage of by the other inmate, FAO, to, without prior notice, "cut his face."

The union points out that the cut was made with "the lid of a can of mussels." Due to the severity of the injuries, the inmate was initially treated in the center's infirmary, but was later transferred to the hospital.

Acaip reports that they had to give him "a total of 23 stitches," which will cause him "persistent sequelae." Fortunately, the union points out, and thanks to a few centimeters difference, "the consequences have not been worse," because if the cut had occurred "a few centimeters lower, the consequences would have been lethal." For his part, the aggressor was transferred to the isolation module.

Acaip emphasizes that the events occurred in the 'pre-respect' module, "where the aggressor inmate was inexplicably located, who has been the protagonist of different violent acts towards other inmates and even a mobile phone was intercepted from him a few days ago."

The union points out that, as has been denounced on several occasions, "violent acts are again occurring, perpetrated by especially conflictive inmates, who have been transferred from prisons on other islands to this one." In this case, they detail that it is an inmate "with serious disciplinary records both before officials and towards other inmates."

Finally, Acaip points out that it was not the only incident that occurred in the prison during that day. In this regard, they state that shortly after the change of workers, "an inmate from module 4 self-harmed, causing cuts on his arms that required medical assistance in the center's infirmary."
