A telephone conversation that Romina Celeste's husband had last Sunday with a cousin of his was what led to his arrest, since in it he gave details of how he got rid of the body. According to sources from the investigation confirmed to La Voz, Raúl Díaz Cachón was suspected "from the first moment" in which he reported the young woman's disappearance, and that is why the Civil Guard agents requested a court order to tap his phone.
Thanks to that monitoring, five days later they intercepted that conversation that confirmed their suspicions, at least regarding his participation in the disappearance. What the agents have not yet been able to determine is how Romina died, since her husband has confessed that he got rid of the body but assures that he did not intervene in her death and that he found her already dead on January 1, when he returned home after having left the house in the early morning in the middle of an argument.
While the Civil Guard continues to investigate how the young woman died, with an eye on a possible case of gender violence, efforts are also focused on finding her body. According to the husband's own account, he would have thrown the body at various points along the coast of Lanzarote. To do this, he would have used a rental car that has also been seized by the agents. The vehicle was rented on January 2, the day after Romina's death, and the agents believe that since that day he had been disposing of the young woman's remains, as he himself has indicated in his shocking account of what he did with the body.
The search moves from Los Hervideros to Costa Teguise
Although the investigators do not rule out that the detainee may have provided false information about where the body is, since this Monday the agents are trying to corroborate his story and began a first search with divers in the Los Hervideros area. In addition, this Tuesday the device has moved to Costa Teguise, where the Civil Guard has deployed the search with a helicopter, a patrol boat and the Group of Specialists in Underwater Activities (GEAS). Likewise, it is expected that the Benemérita will search during the day the house in which the young woman resided with her husband in the El Palmeral urbanization of Costa Teguise.

The access to this urbanization has dawned precisely this Tuesday with candles and a sign asking for "Justice" for Romina. "We are all Romina Celeste Núñez", it reads, which was installed this Monday night by a friend who claims that the family has designated her as spokesperson in Lanzarote. "The family is experiencing a very critical moment. The mother is having panic attacks," she said this Monday after the husband's confession was known.
