The Local Police of Teguise arrested last Sunday, December 10, a woman of Romanian origin as the alleged perpetrator of a "flagrant" theft, of which a British citizen was a victim. The events, according to reports from the City Council, took place in the vicinity of Plaza de La Mareta at around 1:30 p.m., when the traditional La Villa market was being held.
Agents who were on duty in the area went to the place and detained the woman as the alleged perpetrator of the events and took her to the headquarters of the Local Police of Teguise in order to clarify what happened and process the corresponding procedures.
"Once the appropriate verifications were carried out and after reading the rights that constitutionally assist her, as well as those established in the Criminal Procedure Law, the agents proceeded to arrest her as the alleged perpetrator of a crime against property and she was transferred to the Costa Teguise Civil Guard station together with the recovered objects," they explain from the Consistory.
The head of the Local Police of Teguise, Miguel Ángel Jiménez, has congratulated the agents for this new arrest and has pointed out that "the surveillance and security service in the market is being intensified to avoid this type of crime, especially during the hours of maximum influx of the same".
