Agents of the National Police have arrested in Arrecife a 27-year-old woman, with no police record, as the alleged perpetrator of a crime against public health. At the time of her arrest, seven packets of cocaine and 87 euros were seized from her. The detainee admitted to the agents that she was selling drugs, according to the National Police. In addition, another six clients carrying small amounts of narcotics were proposed for administrative sanctions.

The events unfolded at around 3.40 am on October 14, when agents of the National Police went to a bar in the capital of Lanzarote where, according to information provided by citizens, drugs could be being sold and consumed.

The police officers proceeded to identify and search the 25 clients who were inside and the employees of the establishment, seizing from inside the bag of a young woman, who was outside the bar, seven packets containing cocaine and 87.67 euros in fractional currency.

Possible sanction to the bar for "tolerance"

"When asked about the origin of the substance, she told the agents that she sold drugs to make a living, so she was arrested as the alleged perpetrator of a crime against public health," the police explain. As for the six clients who had small amounts of narcotics, their data was taken and they were proposed for administrative sanctions.

Likewise, the agents observed that on the floor of the bathrooms there were several empty wrappers similar to those seized from the detainee, so they proceeded to propose administrative sanctions to the person in charge of the bar, "for tolerance of drug consumption inside the bar".

After the corresponding police report was prepared by the agents of the Arrecife Police Station, the detainee was placed at the disposal of the judicial authority.
