Las Cucharas beach, one of the most important in Costa Teguise, will remain closed during the afternoon of this Thursday due to the adverse sea and beach conditions. This announcement implies the change of the flag from yellow to red, which means that swimming is prohibited.
If the tide goes out, the situation could change. Also, on the morning of this Thursday, the Lanzarote Security and Emergency Consortium reported that this beach and Jablillo would remain flying the yellow flag. Thus, the announcement of the prohibition of swimming in Las Cucharas is added to that of the beaches of Bastián and Famara in the municipality of Teguise and La Garita in Arrieta.
The recommendations indicated by the Ministry of Health are recalled: in the presence of a red flag on the beach, do not enter the water. Also, avoid bathing if you are under the influence of alcohol or drugs, as well as beach mats that can be dragged by the tide.
In addition, the Ministry of Health reports that the yellow flag means dangerous bathing. Therefore, it is better to only bathe up to the waist and do so with caution.
