El Hierro has recorded an earthquake of 5.1 degrees on the Richter scale, which has been felt in addition to that island in La Palma, La Gomera and Tenerife. According to the National Geographic Institute, the seismic movement occurred at 5:46 p.m. and its epicenter is west of the municipality of Frontera.

The National Geographic Institute has confirmed to the Government of the Canary Islands that a earthquake of 5.1 and four aftershocks of lesser intensity have been recorded west of the island of El Hierro, located 10 kilometers from the coast and 15 kilometers deep, pending a final revaluation.

No personal damage has been recorded and the incidence of landslides produced in the west of the island of El Hierro is being assessed. As a cause of these landslides, a rescue device has taken the people who were in the Arenas Blancas area through Lomo Negro and HI-50 has been closed, at the height of La Tabla in connection with Sabinosa, in Frontera.
