The roundabout at the entrance to Costa Teguise had to be closed to traffic for about three hours due to a major diesel spill, according to the Emergency Consortium.
The spill was due to a failure of the diesel pump of a bus, as explained by the manager of the Consortium, Enrique Espinosa "about 150 liters have fallen on the asphalt." The incident occurred at about 4:30 p.m. this Friday.
Once alerted by the CECOES, agents of the Local Police, the Civil Guard, firefighters and road personnel have moved.
Due to the danger to traffic, police officers have closed the roundabout to traffic. Firefighters have thrown sepiolite to absorb all the diesel.
At about 8:00 p.m. it has been reopened but it is recommended that drivers go with caution in the area.
