Photo: Sergio Betancort.- A 36-year-old individual, native to the Island, with no known address and identified by the Security Forces as José Luis C.A., has been found dead at approximately 3:40 p.m. this Wednesday in an abandoned house, at number 104 León y Castillo street in Arrecife.
According to this newspaper, the man would have died from a heroin overdose. A couple of homeless people, witnesses to the event, explained that they were the ones who raised the alarm to the Police and sanitary personnel, after finding the body of the deceased lying in the middle of the corridor of the dilapidated house, a usual place for drug addicts where more than one drug addict has already died so far this year, surrounded by a vacant lot and with exits to León y Castillo street and Sotileza street. Apparently, the deceased was denied access to one of the rooms and decided to inject his dose in the same corridor.
When a medicalized ambulance from the Canary Emergency Service (SUC) arrived at the scene, sanitary personnel from Red Cross had been trying to revive the mentioned person for about 25 minutes, who presented cardiorespiratory arrest. After attempting new resuscitation maneuvers for another 10 minutes and the death occurred, the paramedics abandoned the attempt.
Agents of the Local Police and the National Police of Arrecife went to the abandoned house, the latter Corps taking charge of the corpse. With the arrival of the judicial commission, the coroner proceeded to the removal of the corpse, and it is expected that the relevant autopsy will be carried out during this Thursday to corroborate the causes of death.
