The lifeguard personnel of Playa Chica or Pila de la Barrilla have rescued two bathers in distress who were trying to get an inflatable mattress out of the water in Puerto del Carmen.

As reported by the Coordinating Center for Security and Emergencies (CECOES), the notice was received at 12:50 this Saturday morning, at which time all emergency devices were activated, from the helicopter to the Civil Guard, firefighters and local police officers. However, the beach rescue service was able to rescue both bathers.

When the firefighters of the Security and Emergency Consortium approached the place, they were notified that the people in trouble had already left the water. The Local Police were already at the scene.

It should be remembered that Lanzarote and La Graciosa, like the rest of the Canary Islands, are in a state of pre-alert due to waves and that the Government of the Canary Islands, through the General Directorate of Emergencies, has asked the population to take extreme precautions when approaching the coast.
