Agents of the National Police Corps attached to the Superior Headquarters of the Police of the Canary Islands, have proceeded, in recent dates, to the arrest of Josué G. A. of 23 years of age, native of Barcelona and with several antecedents for identical reasons, as alleged perpetrator of numerous robbery crimes carried out inside the rooms of several hotels located in the Santa Catalina sector.
For several months there had been an increase in thefts and robberies in the rooms of the same, always with the same procedures, committed apparently by the researchers by an individual known as "hotel rat", that is, acting alone, at various hours, with total cold blood and self-confidence and taking advantage of the carelessness of employees to travel inside the hotel.
Great social alarm
These events had caused a great social alarm both in the establishments and in the tourists who were on vacation, so police officers attached to the Judicial Area of the North District Police Station, mounted a special operation for the identification and location of the author.
The surveillance to which the aforementioned hotels were subjected, resulted in the now detained being surprised at the moment in which he was inside a room from which he had already stolen a mobile phone and other personal effects, being arrested at the moment.
The investigations allowed to demonstrate his authorship in several crimes committed in hospitality centers of this city not ruling out his involvement in at least three other acts of equal nature.
The detainee, together with the instructed proceedings, was placed at the disposal of the Judicial Authority.
