The Civil Guard of Lanzarote has solved a robbery with force and continued theft, after the arrest on July 19 of a person of 22 years of age, who initially accessed two rooms when the accesses to the terraces were open and later forced the door of a department head to steal a master key with which he would enter seven other rooms to steal cash.
The investigation began as a result of the first complaint that was filed on July 10 by a tourist in which she reported that they had entered her room, stealing cash. However, a few days later several tourists appeared at the Civil Guard facilities, making a total of seven complaints for similar events committed in the same complex, highlighting that two more tourist couples did not file complaints but reported the events at the reception, counting in all cases that the money stolen reached 2,820 euros.
Police investigations and inquiries
The Civil Guard carried out the investigation procedures and police investigations that allowed the identification of the perpetrator of the criminal acts, observing that in the first two complaints the unknown perpetrator(s) had accessed the interior of the rooms through the sliding doors of the terraces that were open, later that same perpetrator had forced the door of the office of a department head to appropriate a master magnetic card with which he had access to all the rooms of the hotel.
The analysis of numerous hours of viewing of security cameras, together with the information provided by possible witnesses and the study of the readings of the magnetic cards of the rooms, led the Civil Guard to determine that it was the same perpetrator, who performed his work duties and also resided inside the hotel complex, a circumstance that helped him to know the complex perfectly, the schedules, the location of the security systems, being able to access all places without raising suspicions, all these facts made his location extremely difficult.
However, the Civil Guard collected all the information that would lead to the identification of the alleged perpetrator who was arrested and placed at the disposal of the police together with the proceedings carried out in the Arrecife Duty Court.
