The Arrecife City Council concluded this past Tuesday with the "integral sealing" of a house, of two floors, which was a "focus of neighborhood conflict" in the Argana Alta neighborhood, the largest on the island of Lanzarote and which was vacated this past Monday.

That property, until now occupied, was "a point of drug dealing", according to the investigation of the Local Police, whose agents proceeded on Monday afternoon to the 'eviction' of that house. The owner had requested the mediation of the City Council and the assistance of the Local Police from the mayor of the city, Yonathan de León.

This house had become "a focus of constant complaints" from the neighbors due to the conflict generated by its occupants. The Local Police had this property and its occupants under surveillance, given "the repeated complaints made by residents of the area, even providing photographs and videos."

The property requested that the Local Police mediate with its occupants and get them to leave this house. The mediation gave good results.

A special device activated by the Local Police, under the direct direction of the mayor, managed to get these 'residents' to leave the house. The neighbors witnessed the police presence, which required the closure of the street.

The owner authorized the City Council to seal it up, executed this Tuesday directly by workers from the City Council's Department of Public Works. Before proceeding with the sealing, a huge amount of garbage generated by the occupants for many months was removed.

The investigation of the Local Police allowed them to find in one of the rooms of this property a poster stamped on the wall where "the rates of each product of drug dealing that was sold to those who came to this place are indicated".

Mayor Yonathan de León has been, again, in the area and has spoken personally with the neighbors who had suffered this situation. The mayor has assured that from now on this area of the neighborhood recovers security and normality. Local Police officers have been escorting this property since the eviction, and the sealing work, for more than 72 consecutive hours.

Yonathan de León has remarked that "in Arrecife we will continue with these police actions, and we will not stop until the residents of all neighborhoods can live peacefully. I want citizens to live in safe environments with healthy neighborhood coexistence."
