The Association for Business and Commercial Development of Altavista (ADECA) has denounced the increase in robberies in shops in the neighborhood. According to a statement, they have suffered three thefts "in less than a week", the last one occurring this Thursday.
ADECA states that last week a shop located on Calle Mina suffered a robbery, there was a second robbery on Calle Blasco Ibáñez and several attempts in establishments on Calle Ángel Ganivet. In the early hours of this Thursday, according to the association, another shop located on Calle Padre Claret was the victim of a new criminal act.
From Adeca they warn of the increase in robberies in shops and houses in the area "since the last six months" and ask the mayor of Arrecife and the police councilor "to take measures to end this situation, as it could spread to other parts of the city".
Lack of police presence and lighting
From the association of merchants they convey the "unease and fear of being assaulted that the owners of the shops have at this time, most of which are small family businesses that work daily to get them forward".
According to ADECA, "one of the causes of so many robberies has been the lack of police presence in the neighborhood, as well as the lack of lighting in many streets". And, from the association also denounce that main streets of Altavista as Padre Claret "are completely dark".
