National Police agents have arrested a 19-year-old man with a police record in the municipality of Arrecife as the alleged perpetrator of an attack on law enforcement agents.
The events unfolded after a call to the 091 telephone line reporting a fight between two women on Campoamor Street in the capital of Lanzarote.
The police officers who arrived at the scene were interviewing the women when a 19-year-old man approached one of them in an aggressive manner and tried to attack her with a screwdriver in his hand.
The agents prevented the attack and restrained the man, who then began to punch them and also tried to stab them with the screwdriver, so he was finally arrested as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of assault on law enforcement agents.
After the corresponding police report was prepared, the detainee was placed at the disposal of the competent Judicial Authority.
The police intervention was carried out by agents from the Arrecife Police Station.
