A 57-year-old woman has died after suffering a cardiorespiratory arrest between the beaches of Matagorda and Los Pocillos in Puerto del Carmen, as reported by the Security and Emergency Consortium.
The events took place this Wednesday around 3:40 p.m. while the woman was bathing in the sea. Beachgoers pulled her out of the water and were the first to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation. Once the lifeguards were notified, they approached to perform instrumental cardiopulmonary resuscitation, which lasted about 25 minutes.
Two ambulances from the Emergency Service were dispatched to the scene, one with basic life support and another with advanced life support, but the doctor could only certify her death.
The Local Police collaborated with the SUC personnel in assisting the affected person. The Civil Guard was in charge of instructing the corresponding proceedings with the judicial authority.
