"We have identified and remedied a technical problem that was affecting our flight planning system this morning", issued during the afternoon of this past Monday the National Air Traffic Service (NATS) of the United Kingdom, through its Director of Operations. This failure brought with it numerous delays as traffic was restricted to ensure air safety. Thus different airports that operate to or from this country suffered long waits. Also in the case of Lanzarote, where long queues were experienced from early in the morning.
Lanzarote is the second island in the Canary Islands where air traffic has been most affected. Only behind Tenerife. In this way, in the case of the Island of Volcanoes it has suffered 27 flight alterations due to cancellations or delays. This has been pointed out by the newspaper La Provincia. Also, air traffic controllers reported delays of more than 45 minutes in many cases.
As shown in a video that La Voz has had access to, the Lanzarote Airport terminal was full of people affected by this problem. The cancellations of flights departing to the United Kingdom caused a full house in the conejero aerodrome.
