National Police agents have arrested a 17-year-old minor, with a police record, as the alleged perpetrator of six robberies with violence and intimidation committed in the town of Arrecife. The detainee intimidated his victims by brandishing a switchblade or a large knife, in some cases even physically assaulting them.
The investigations began following the receipt of several complaints for the commission of robberies with intimidation in the vicinity of the bus station on the main road of Arrecife.
The modus operandi of the alleged perpetrator of the events consisted of approaching his victim, in many cases minors, wearing a hooded sweatshirt to avoid being recognized. He intimidated the young people by brandishing a knife to steal their mobile phones and the money they were carrying. On some occasions, he physically assaulted the complainants, who suffered injuries of varying degrees.
The efforts made by the investigators led to the identification of the alleged perpetrator of the events, who was photographically recognized by a total of six injured parties. After this, he was arrested and several stolen items were recovered, which were returned to their rightful owners.
Once the police report was prepared, the detainee was placed at the disposal of the Juvenile Prosecutor's Office, which ordered his admission to a closed juvenile center. The police intervention was carried out by agents assigned to the Local Judicial Police Brigade of the Arrecife Police Station.
