A man, apparently of British nationality and about 54 years old, climbed this Sunday afternoon to a construction crane that is located in the Hotel Fariones, apparently with the intention of jumping.
It was the passers-by who were in the area who saw the man who had been shouting and waving his arms from the top of the crane. They quickly called 112 and agents of the Local Police, the Canary Police, the Civil Guard, the Emergency Consortium and an ambulance from the SUC have traveled to the scene.
According to two friends of the man who have come to the place, they explained to La Voz that "he has economic problems, because he has neither Erte nor unemployment". "He doesn't have enough to pay the rent, for 17 years he has always paid but now he doesn't even have enough to eat, I take him a bag of food once a week," she says.
The Local Police has closed the street to traffic. According to La Voz, he is a British man who has been living on the island for years. His partner has also come to the scene and is collaborating with the emergency services.
