A lifting machine that was finalizing the assembly for the Ironman overturned this Tuesday on Playa Grande in Puerto del Carmen, according to the Tías City Council, which assured that "no fuel spills have been recorded in the area so far" and that the beach is "open for swimming". The machine operator was unharmed, according to the Consistory

The lifting machine, which overturned on the seashore, is "from the technical organization of the Ironman" and was carrying out "anchoring work on the mechanisms necessary for the development of the test", which will take place on May 26.

After the overturning, as a preventive measure, the City Council agreed to fence off the area and cordon off the area near the tide with buoys to avoid possible fuel leaks. In this sense, the Consistory states that "the rapid action has made it possible to verify that, for now, no fuel spill has been recorded."

Operatives from the Tías City Council, Local Police and firefighters from the Security and Emergency Consortium of the Cabildo de Lanzarote, as well as from the technical organization of the Ironman, have come to the area to lift the lifting machine and restore normality to the beach.
