The beach of the town of Playa Blanca has been closed to swimming since Wednesday night, after a sewage spill was recorded as a result of a breakdown in the pumping station that exists near the beach.

This has been confirmed by the Yaiza City Council, from where they have indicated that, after this, Canal Gestión was notified, who has already proceeded to fix it. "In the morning they changed the pump and it is no longer overflowing," they pointed out from the Consistory.

However, "as a precaution", the beach remains closed to swimming, although the City Council hopes to reopen it in the next few hours.
