A boat with two crew members ran aground on Tuesday morning in the area of the "Charco de la condesa", near the town of Órzola. Once the sailboat had run aground, one of the occupants jumped into the sea and swam to the coast of the island, where he alerted a neighbor of the situation. Immediately all the necessary emergency resources were activated to go in search of the second traveler. Firefighters and REN volunteers traveled to the place, who with the lighting provided by the firefighters were able to access the ship and rescue the second crew member.
Once the two occupants of the boat were safely ashore, they were given blankets to avoid hypothermia and were later transferred to the REN first aid post in Arrieta, where they spent the night. In addition, the Civil Guard patrol boat, which had also approached the place, was requested to watch the boat during the night.
Already on the morning of this Tuesday, the two occupants of the boat, a Pole and a Spaniard, have been transferred by the REN volunteers to the place where the boat is stranded to carry out the towing tasks of the ship.
