A 91-year-old man has died in a house fire. The deceased was in cardiorespiratory arrest and SUC personnel were unable to reverse the situation. The incident occurred at approximately 9:30 a.m. this Saturday when a call alerted the Canary Islands Government's Emergency and Security Coordinating Center (CECOES) 1-1-2 of a fire in a single-family home in the capital of Lanzarote.

Firefighters, two ambulances from the SUC, one medicalized and one basic life support, agents from the Local Police and the National Police Corps have been dispatched to the scene. According to the Consortium, "upon arriving at the house, the Local Police officers were there, who informed us that a man lives in the house and that the neighbors had not seen him that morning, and that they had tried to open the door but were unable to do so." "We checked if there was access through the roof, which was negative, so we broke down the main door and entered, finding the house flooded with smoke and a man lying on the floor at the door of a bedroom where the fire occurred."

Firefighters took the elderly man out into the street and began resuscitation, while others continued to extinguish the fire. Once the medical personnel arrived, they continued with advanced cardiopulmonary resuscitation maneuvers without success, confirming his death.

The Arrecife Local Police collaborated with the emergency resources. For its part, the National Police Corps has taken charge of the corresponding proceedings with the judicial authority.
