A 59-year-old diver dies while diving in Playa Chica

According to CECOES to La Voz, the diver was a few meters from the shore when the calls for help began.

A 59-year-old man has died this Thursday at noon after suffering a cardiorespiratory arrest while diving in Playa Chica, also known as Pila de La Barrilla, in Puerto del Carmen. The incident took place at 12:30 p.m., when the Emergency Coordinating Center (CECOES) was alerted and mobilized emergency teams.

According to CECOES to La Voz, the diver was a few meters from the shore when the calls for help began. Upon the arrival of the Canary Islands Emergency Service's health teams, the man was in cardiorespiratory arrest and they tried to revive him without success

Agents of the Local Police of Tías, two ambulances from the SUC (one medicalized and one basic life support), agents of the Civil Guard and beach lifeguard personnel moved to the scene.
