The municipality of Yaiza celebrated this Sunday the big day of the festivities in honor of its patron saint Nuestra Señora de Los Remedios. At 7:00 p.m. the celebration of the Solemn Eucharist began, presided over by Francisco José García Socorro, parish priest of the parishes of San Bartolomé and San Roque, assisted by Yonathan Almeida, titular parish priest of Yaiza, and Adrián Sosa, parish priest of Tías.
The songs for the celebration were performed by the Vocal Group of Yaiza directed by Professor Nuvi Tavio, on such a special day that the church facilities could not accommodate all the parishioners, where some had to follow the celebration next to the portico.
After the Solemn Eucharist, the procession was held, headed by the Municipal Music Band of Yaiza, followed by the image of Nuestra Señora de los Remedios, the celebrating priests, civil and military authorities preceded by the Mayor of the Municipality, Oscar Noda, and the parishioners among whom was the town crier María Dolores Rodríguez. Together they toured the main streets of Yaiza.
Upon returning and before the image of Nuestra Señora de Los Remedios crossed the portico of the church, the Music Band performed a special procession composition that was widely applauded by all those present.
The church of Nuestra Señora de Los Remedios, was declared a Historical Artistic Monument by decree 30/1986 of October 7 and published in Bulletin No. 2 of March 28, 1987. The sculpture of the image of Los Remedios was placed in the church around the year 1739.
