The town of Yaiza anticipates two weeks of culture, folklore and march animated by its program of patron celebrations in honor of the Virgen de Los Remedios that will start this August 30 and will extend until September 9. This celebration mixes tradition and open revelry for the enjoyment of neighbors and visitors who have served in Yaiza. A great atmosphere to catch the joy dreams from this Friday, August 30, a day marked for the act of reading the proclamation, which as a novelty this year will be outdoors, in front of the Remedios church, by the teacher with roots from Yaiza María Dolores Rodríguez González, former Deputy Minister of Education of the Government of the Canary Islands.

The traditional pilgrimage on Saturday, August 31, starting at 6:00 p.m. from the parking lot of the soccer field, and the Rubicón Folk Festival, planned after the proclamation ceremony, created and enriched each year by the Rubicón Folk Group of Yaiza and its invited groups and soloists, are two essential encounters of the festivities as distinguished expressions of popular culture.

And if we talk about Canarian popular culture, the Remedios Festivities bring to the stage of Yaiza one of the most representative female voices of traditional music, Olga Cerpa, accompanied by her group Mestisay. This concert on September 7 is the best preamble to the Día Grande de Yaiza, September 8, Sunday of solemn religious function and procession, to then close the night with the live performance of the Valencian group Bombai, which has among its successes the song Solo si es contigo, in addition to other pop rock and reggae melodies.

Yaiza also reserves space for poetry with two great writers and neighbors of the town: Jaime Quesada and Manuel Concepción, protagonists of the poetic Hand in hand on September 7, but also the festivities invite on September 4 to the family storytelling session Potaje de cuentos, with the narrator Isabel Cabrera. These are just some of the brushstrokes of the entire Remedios program that the people of Lanzarote can consult on the web.

On behalf of the Yaiza City Council and the Festivities Commission, the mayor, Óscar Noda, and the councilor responsible for Culture and Festivities, Daniel Medina, encourage participation. Children's games, sports, theater, festivals, hiking, activities for young people, beer festival with rock groups, including Salvapantallas, and countless artistic galas, make Yaiza the happiest meeting point to say goodbye to summer.
