The Lanzarote Film Festival's walks are back for another year. Expert guides and connoisseurs of the island's history will guide the participating paths along the chosen paths and retrace the traces left by the Lanzarote migration. On November 25 and 26, the walk Testimonies of Emigration: documentary traces of those who left will take place, led by Doctor of History, Víctor Bello.
Also, on November 26 and December 2, it will be the turn of Returns from Emigration: economic reinvestments on the island, guided by the historian Mario Alberto Perdomo. Meanwhile, on November 25 and December 2, comes Following the Footsteps of Emigration in Lanzarote, with the historian Arminda Arteta. All will begin at 09:00 in the morning and will have a level of difficulty between low and medium.
In addition, and exceptionally, this year the great naturalist Juanjo Ramos will take an excursion through the fascinating world of migratory bird watching. It will be on Sunday the 3rd at 09:00 in the morning and the walk will be an opportunity to learn about and discover how birds such as the curlews from the Tundra, turnstones from Greenland or herons from the Mediterranean wetlands travel each year, on their own, from the cold north to our latitudes.
The family sessions will consist of the screening of a film for the little ones related to the theme of the Exhibition, emigration, and a puppet show where a very close story of emigrants will be represented, a theme so important for the island and for the world. The sessions will be morning and afternoon. They can be enjoyed on the following days:
- November 25: Haría (11.30 am - El Aljibe) and Teguise (5.30 pm - Famara Sociocultural Center)
- November 26: Arrecife (5.30 pm - El Almacén)
- November 30: San Bartolomé (5.30 pm - CSC Playa Honda)
- December 2: Tías (11.30 am - Ermita de San Antonio)
- December 2: Tinajo (5.30 pm - Theater Stage)
The workshops for children between six and ten years old will be on November 26 and December 3, from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. The activity will also be related to emigration. It has been carried out in collaboration with the "Alegría" playroom and what is sought is that from an early age an attempt is made to understand and understand this issue in order to build a society where individuals are respected regardless of their origin. It is, without a doubt, an opportunity for children to better understand their present, build a global mentality, consider the need to defend certain values and, perhaps, also certain attitudes, such as respect or a well-reasoned empathy, and have resources to protect themselves from prejudice, discrimination and irrational fear.
The 13th Lanzarote Film Festival is organized by the non-profit association Tenique Cultural and is sponsored by the Cabildo de Lanzarote, the Lanzarote Foreign Promotion Society through its product brand Lanzarote Film Commission, the Centers for Art, Culture and Tourism and the Institute of Cinematography and Audiovisual Arts of Spain.
