The auditorium of the Jameos del Agua hosted this Saturday the show Voces de la Tradición, organized by the Government of the Canary Islands, through the Ministry of Culture, with the collaboration of the Cabildo of Lanzarote. More than a hundred artists participated in a proposal that highlighted the most representative manifestations of Canarian folklore, popular music and contemporary creation linked to the roots of the Archipelago.

The Minister of Universities, Science and Innovation and Culture, Migdalia Machín, highlighted that "Voces de la Tradición reflects the insular fact, the island feeling and the life that, from our towns, has shaped the Archipelago, projecting our shared identity."

She also thanked "the solo musicians, the folk groups, the artistic directors and the public of Lanzarote for their welcome and emotion in this musical journey that connects us from El Hierro to La Graciosa."

Machín stressed that from the Ministry of Culture "we work so that this proposal can reach all the islands and continue to strengthen the link with our roots."

For more than two hours, the public enjoyed a continuous sequence of pieces performed by soloists, dance groups, musical formations and popular groups, in a staging that combined respect for tradition with a renewed and exciting look.

The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort, said that "Lanzarote has welcomed this event with the pride of knowing that it is an active part of a Canary Islands that values its legacy and shares it through art. In the Jameos del Agua there has been a night of emotion, unity and cultural affirmation."

For his part, the island councilor of Culture, Jesús Machín, said that "this type of initiatives reinforce the links between islands, generations and artistic expressions, and consolidate culture as a common language that gives meaning to our present."

The artistic direction of the show was in charge of Manuel González, with musical direction by Félix Morales. The repertoire included traditional and author's works, with modern arrangements and diverse instrumentations, performed by a parranda of 16 musicians, an eclectic instrumental formation and a cappella or choral versions.

The soloists Héctor González, Jose Manuel Ramos, Besay Pérez, Fabiola Socas, Pablo Díaz, Yumara Luis, Angélica Pérez, Olga Cerpa, Iván Quintana, Manuel Estupiñán, Juan Mesa, Iván Díaz, Santiago Ramírez and Juan Manuel Padrón participated. The timple players Laura Martel, Alberto González Falcón and David Rodríguez, the children's choir directed by Tata Zirga and the Polifónica San Ginés also formed part of the show.

The dance groups of Tetir and Añate, the pito and drum players of El Pinar, the fusco horses of Tazacorte, the members of the group La Rebelión Gomera Folk, the Banda de Agaete, the Parranda de los Buches and Los Diabletes de Teguise joined.
