With great enthusiasm, the residents of the town of Tiagua are celebrating the festivities in honor of their patron saint, Our Lady of Perpetual Help. Last Saturday night, at 9:00 p.m., in the facilities of the El Molino de Tiagua Socio-Cultural Center, they enjoyed a lively 'Noche de Parrandas' (Night of Folk Music).
The event, an improvised 'stall', featured performances by the Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe Seniors Group from La Villa de Teguise and the 'El Jable' and 'La Aldaba' folk groups. With great enthusiasm and flair, they played and sang a varied repertoire of Canarian and popular songs, recalling the old 'Ballroom Dances'. In those times, men had to wait their turn to dance, a task organized by 'The Mandador'.
The residents of Tiagua gave a distinguished touch to the night with a special decoration, arranging tables and chairs and reserving a space for dancing. At the same time, they were able to taste typical traditional products from the stalls, such as cheese, kneaded gofio, small fish, biscuit rings, mojo picón, good homemade wine and the rich pastries that have such a good reputation in Tiagua.
The animation did not wane at any time and the neighbors enjoyed the party until well past midnight.
