The residents of the town of Tiagua took a break from their daily work to celebrate the festivity of their patron saint Nuestra Señora del Perpetuo Socorro, after having shared a special lunch with family and guests as tradition dictates.

At 6:00 p.m. they gathered in the town's church to participate in the Eucharist, which was presided over by Nicanor Bermúdez, parish priest of the San Antonio María Claret parishes in Altavista and Nuestra Señora del Carmen in Valterra. Assisted by his colleague Rafael Tejera, parish priest of Tiagua, the entire assembly participated in the songs, enlivened by a duo of women in charge of setting the chords with their guitars.

After the Eucharist, the procession took place with the image of Nuestra Señora del Perpetuo Socorro carried on the shoulders by the residents of the town, followed by the celebrating priests, municipal authorities with the mayor of the Teguise City Council, Olivia Duque, together they toured the streets near the church.

Upon returning, and next to the arch of palm trees and bougainvillea, a tradition that had been lost and that the festival committee had the brilliant idea of recovering, they placed the image of the Virgin and everyone expectantly listened to the poetry that the neighbor Angelita Hernández recites every year to the Patron Saint of Tiagua.

Next, the folkloric offering was carried out, this year by the Parranda El Lagar de Teseguite and the Asociación de Bailes Típicos Altaja, performing the most traditional songs and dances of Canarian folklore, thus putting the finishing touch to the festivity of Nuestra Señora del Perpetuo Socorro, Patron Saint of the town of Tiagua.
