The Municipal Theater of Tías hosted the "Meeting of Soloists" last Sunday night, organized by the Guágaro Cultural and Musical Association of Tías in collaboration with the City Council and the Raíces musical group.
The 12 musicians, great professionals directed by Professor Roberto Gil, were in charge of accompanying the 7 participating soloists. Women and men who made the audience vibrate with each of their interventions. The island of Tenerife was represented by Candelaria González and Lola Hernández, Fuerteventura by Ayla Rodríguez, three women already experienced when it comes to interpreting the most traditional and representative of Canarian folklore.
The island of Lanzarote was represented by Daniel Betancort, Sergio Tolosa, Ruymán Martin and Santiago Ramírez, young people committed to the traditions and Canarian music.
During the 90 minutes of the meeting, the soloists, surrounded by the musical chords of the Parranda Raíces, performed the most representative of Canarian song, beginning with some seguidillas followed by folías, malagueña, isa, mazurka and aíes de lima, with which other musical genres such as bolero, habanera, ranchera and cumbia were also interspersed.
The complicity of the musicians and soloists conquered the public in each of their interventions, rewarding them with resounding applause until the final moment arrived, in which the attendees stood up to sing and some even ended up dancing the Islas Canarias pasodoble.
Emma Soto, president of the Guágaro Cultural and Musical Association, congratulated the musicians and soloists, thanking the public for their attendance, which also included the presence of the mayor of the municipality, José Juan Cruz, the Councilor for Culture, Pepa González, the Councilor for Festivities, Sergio García, among others.
