The young timple player from Majorera, Althay Páez, was in charge of inaugurating the new concert series programmed by the Casa-Museo del Timple de Teguise for this year 2022.

The concert took place on Friday night at the Santo Domingo de La Villa convent, where Althay presented his first record work "Sostiene Pereira." An album with 10 songs in which Althay interprets some of the compositions of the Portuguese musician Julio Pereira. In them he merges two cultures, the Portuguese and the Canarian, where both come together through the timple.

"Sostiene Pereira", this record work has already been recognized by the Canarian people by being nominated for the "Canary Islands Music Awards", highlighting the incredible performance and result in the creation of this album. Páez was accompanied by three great musicians such as Juanka Trujillo on bass, Tomás Figueroa on guitar and Rayco Gil on percussion.

The majorero timple player surprised the public with a spectacular live performance where the complicity and dedication of his musicians, all together with a very elaborate staging in constant movement, conquered those present from their appearance on stage.

The album was recorded between Lisbon and the Canary Islands and has been produced jointly by Julio Pereira himself and Manuel González, founder of Mestisay.

At the end of the concert, the Councilor for Culture of the Teguise City Council, Nori Machín, went on stage to present him with the poster announcing the concert.

Althay Páez has traveled a large part of the world, where the timple has always gone hand in hand, and as a result of this he has shaped his own style of music and his way of expressing it with his instrument.
