Last week, the Cabildo of Lanzarote presented a check for 3,850 euros to the NGO La Vida es Zuaina, an amount corresponding to the solidarity funds raised during the Lanzarote en Familia 2025 program.
The island president received several members of this social collective at the Corporation's headquarters. For over a decade, this group has been carrying out intensive community work in the Argana neighborhood of Arrecife, focusing particularly on the care of children, youth, and vulnerable families. During the meeting, Betancort congratulated the NGO representatives on their commitment and track record, emphasizing "the enormous social value that their daily work brings, making them a true pillar for many families."
Also present at the handover ceremony were the Minister of Youth, Aroa Revelo, and the Minister of Social Welfare and Inclusion, Marci Acuña, who expressed their satisfaction that, through these types of initiatives, the Cabildo can reinforce local social projects that have a direct impact on the community. Both highlighted that this financial contribution will help to continue strengthening the educational, support, and inclusion activities that La Vida es Zuaina carries out in Arrecife.
For their part, the NGO expressly thanked the Cabildo of Lanzarote for its support and highlighted that the Institution trusts and invests in the island's social fabric.
“Lanzarote en Familia”, a program with a social and educational vocation
The funds raised come from the sale of solidarity tickets for the Lanzarote en Familia 2025 program, an initiative organized by the Cabildo through the Youth Department headed by Aroa Revelo, which has established itself as a space for learning, support, and work-life balance for families of all kinds.
Following the success of its first edition in 2024, the cycle returned this year with a renewed program, held entirely at the Monumento al Campesino, and with free services including a playroom and sign language interpreter, thus facilitating the participation of all families. The sessions addressed some of the main challenges of current parenting, combining professional rigor, approachability, and dissemination
The program for this edition included presentations by national leaders such as pediatrician Gonzalo Pin, breastfeeding expert Alba Padró, psychologist Alberto Soler, and work-life balance activist Laura Baena, addressing topics such as infant sleep, weaning, educational boundaries, and work-life balance.
Lanzarote en Familia was born with the aim of providing guidance, dispelling myths, and offering practical tools to mothers, fathers, and caregivers, while also incorporating a clear solidarity component, dedicating part of its proceeds to a local NGO linked to supporting children and families. This year, it was La Vida es Zuaina.
