The Tías patron saint festivities in honor of Nuestra Señora de La Candelaria and San Blas will take place these days leading up to the celebration of the big day, Friday, February 2, a holiday in the municipality. The program, with more than 50 events, has its epicenter this weekend with the traditional frying, workshops, parades, bouncy castles, festivals, traditional frying, Canarian wrestling, chess and concerts.
The mayor and the Councilor for Festivities, José Juan Cruz and Miriam Hernández, want to emphasize the relevance of this celebration "as a meeting point for neighbors, family and friends who each year share important events such as the reading of the proclamation, the pilgrimage or the Canarian stall, to mention some events that we have already celebrated," says Hernández, who encourages the population to continue "enjoying" the festivities.
The program for this Wednesday afternoon foresees the continuation of the parade workshop, taught by the association 'Guayota' in El Pavón square, the children's show 'Showcase' in the Municipal Theater and the celebration of the Eucharist with the towns of Masdache, Puerto del Carmen and Tías in the church of La Candelaria. Tomorrow the Eucharist will be celebrated with Mácher, La Asomada and Conil.
For tomorrow, Thursday, the start of the 'XXIV Memorial Amigos Basketball Tournament' of Magec, organized by the CD Magec of Tías, which ends on February 4, has been planned; the parade from El Pavón square to La Candelaria square; the pilates workshop organized by 'Unión Sur Tías'; children's makeup in La Candelaria square with Karolien Minne; bouncy castles in La Candelaria square; the traditional frying enlivened by the Tebete group, the popular festival enlivened by the 'Pal porrón' group and the group 'Samady Band' (Tenerife) and fireworks.
On Friday, the day of La Candelaria, the religious service will be held at 12:00 noon with the La Candelaria choir and the procession with the 'Unión Musical de Lanzarote' band and a performance by 'Gaida'. In the afternoon, the basketball tournament will continue in the pavilion and at 8:00 p.m. in the Municipal Theater the play 'A Sleepless Spring Night' will be performed by the Lila García theater group. The night will end with concerts by 'Inerxia' and 'Treintaytantos' in La Candelaria square.
