When August 5 arrives, many devotees go up to the highest part of the Teguise mountain, some walking and others by car, to visit Our Lady of Las Nieves and thus fulfill the promised promise, a tradition inherited from mothers to children.
At 10 in the morning, the first parishioners were able to participate in the "Pilgrim's Mass", presided over by the parish priest of Haría, Norberto Medin.
As the morning progressed, entering the Hermitage became almost impossible, because everyone wanted to arrive and stand next to the Virgin: some to thank her and others to ask for help.
At 1 p.m. the Solemn Religious Function began in honor of Las Nieves, presided over by the Auxiliary Bishop of the Diocese of the Canary Islands, Cristóbal Déniz Hernández, assisted by several priests from the island. The event was enlivened by the songs of Josefina de León, Fefo Pérez and Diego Fajardo. The small hermitage could not accommodate the large number of devotees who climbed the mountain, and a large part of them had to follow the celebration of the Eucharist, outside in the surroundings of the hermitage, while others protected themselves from the sun by seeking the shade of the palm trees.
Once the Solemn Eucharist was finished, the procession with the image of Our Lady of Las Nieves proceeded, headed by the Teguise Music Band, which was in charge of enlivening the entire route. The image of the Virgin walked surrounded by Auxiliary Bishop Cristóbal Déniz, priests, civil and military authorities and devotees on both sides throughout the processional route.
At the moment when the image of Our Lady of Las Nieves crossed the portico of the Hermitage, prolonged applause was heard, intermingled with "vivas", as a sign of affection and admiration.
