The mayor of Teguise, Oswaldo Betancort, and the councilor of Culture, Nori Machín, together with the delegate of La Graciosa, Alicia Páez, announced this Thursday the details of the program that the City Council of Teguise has prepared for this Christmas. Both the mayor and his government team agreed to describe the Christmas proposal as "humble and modest", which this year is marked by restrictions and the health protocol, but judging by the initiatives presented, Teguise and La Graciosa will finally save Christmas with a program full of solidarity, musical, children's and traditional events.

Christmas in Teguise is shown at the end of 2020 very "altruistic and focused on the children of the municipality", but also musical and artistic, starting on Thursday, December 10 with the inauguration of the Nativity Scene in the House of Culture, and on Saturday, December 12 with the performance of the group "Malvasía Sound" (Ciro Corujo, Adrián Niz and José Vicente Pérez) in the Santo Domingo Convent of La Villa de Teguise, a stage that on Sunday the 13th will host the young virtuosos of the timple in the mythical Christmas concert of Menudos Timplistas. On Friday, December 18, Teguise will receive Besay Pérez and his concert "Íntimo" with Satomi Moritomo on piano; and on Saturday the 19th, the Christmas Concert of the Municipal Band of Teguise will be held. All of them, like the performance of "Teguise Encanta" on Sunday the 27th at the Teatro de la Villa, or the concert of the timplista Alexis Lemes and Adrián Niz in the Pueblo Marinero in Costa Teguise, with prior reservation of invitations at 928 84 51 81 due to capacity issues and always appealing to individual responsibility so that all of them can be developed respecting the rules.

Solidarity will come from the hand of the "Solidarity Goals" of the Sports Clubs of Teguise, which will be destined to Cáritas Parroquial de Teguise, as well as the "Kilo de Danza" with a sample of the Traslación Dance Festival, with Eleonora Mercatasi, Reiner Alfonso and Acerina H. Toledo; and also from the initiative "For a kilo of food, a work of art", from the students of CEIP Costa Teguise, who will collect in the Costa Teguise Civic Center a kilo of food for the most needy in exchange for a work of art made by them.

The children of Teguise will not be left this year without the visit of the Royal Postman to all the schools in the municipality, nor without the visit of Santa Claus, who will pass on December 23 through all the streets of Costa Teguise; nor without seeing Their Majesties the Three Wise Men from the East, who will also travel all the streets of the municipality saving the distances on the morning of Tuesday, January 5. In addition, the youngest of the house can participate in Christmas workshops in different points.

The young people of Teguise, Disney ambassadors, have also wanted to be faithful to their appointment with Teguise and have reinvented themselves to offer fantasy to the little ones by animating the Timple House-Museum with 30-minute sessions on the afternoons of January 4 and 5, under the fantasy "The Palace of Dreams".

Tradition in streaming and virtual chimes

The musical and folkloric groups of Teguise will fulfill their usual commitment, but in an exceptional way and attending to the sanitary norms, so they will not be able to do it in person and with public. However, they will join to offer everyone a virtual greeting on December 21, in the case of the Coral Polifónica de la Villa de Teguise; and on the 22nd, day in which the folkloric groups "Sing to Christmas" from social networks.

With "Chimes in the Distance", the Culture area of Teguise invites you to send your New Year's Eve photo to informacion.cultura@teguise.es and be part of a video that will be posted on the municipal website and Facebook to share with the rest of the world the wishes and congratulations for the New Year.

Also, a videoconference will be scheduled with the Three Wise Men from the East for all the children who send an email to informacion.cultura@teguise.es between the 14th and the 28th of December, leaving their personal data and a telephone number.

A Time Capsule to bury the bad and good memories

The Culture area also proposes to all groups to participate during these dates in a "Time Capsule" to bury the memories of how the municipality has lived the pandemic, which will be kept in the Municipal Historical Archive of Teguise and will remain closed for 25 years. On Wednesday, December 29, memories, objects, drawings, etc., that each sector of the population wishes can be stored in it.

Consume Teguise for Christmas

The Commerce area of Teguise, directed by Olivia Duque, has also included a series of activities designed especially to boost local consumption during these holidays, with several proposals coordinated with the associations of merchants of the Villa and Costa Teguise and with Felapyme. Guided tours of the Historic Site, including the buildings that house shops, under the slogan "The Footprint of Teguise"; visit of Santa Claus with the elves through the Commercial Zone of Costa Teguise; Christmas workshops, micro-theaters, window dressing contest, Christmas raffle, Royal Mailbox and letters to the Three Wise Men in the shops of the municipality of Teguise, and other proposals that are part of the Consume Teguise campaign
