The town of Femés is preparing to experience with intensity the festivities in honor of San Marcial del Rubicón, patron saint of the town and Lanzarote, with a program full of tradition, music and entertainment that starts this Wednesday, June 25.

The reading of the proclamation will be given by the sisters Dalia and Claudia Reyes, from Quesería Rubicón, in the hermitage at 9:00 p.m. The Yaiza City Council invites residents and visitors to join and enjoy the program of events that will extend until July 8, with special attention to the Big Day (July 7), in which the faithful are called to adore the Saint in the solemn function and subsequent procession through the streets of the town together with the Municipal Band.

The festivities will combine religious events, folklore, workshops, championships, musical performances and shows for all tastes and ages from this Thursday, June 26, with the concert offered by 'El Colorado', an activity organized by the Culture area and framed in the exhibition 'El timple, echoes of identity', until the 'Meeting of Soloists' on the Big Day, which this year will feature Los Cantadores with Shaila Dúrcal and the soloists Inma Sepúlveda and Eliezer Betancort.

In the musical field, the Yaiza Municipal Band will take over on the 27th in the Plaza de San Marcial, where the Bohemia group (Saturday 28th) and the Trío Zapatista (July 3rd) will also perform. With the weekend will come the Young Night with DJs (day 4) and the musical marathon on Saturday, July 5 with groups such as Los Salvapantallas, Los Lolas, Defectu Venturi and Banda Nueva, who will perform during the Pamela Party. On Sunday the 6th, the square will be filled with folklore and tradition with El Golpito and La Aldaba.

Humor will also be present these days, which will come from the hand of the Canarian monologist Omayra Cazorla (day 4) or the Yaiza Senior Play Back (day 2), in addition to talks, workshops for children and adults with varied themes (collage, floral arrangement, candles, ceramics, skate or percussion), traditional championships and the dessert contest, a wine tasting or the foam party, among others.

On Monday, July 7, the Big Day of the festivities, the faithful are called to adore San Marcial del Rubicón, Patron Saint of Femés and the island of Lanzarote in the solemn function and subsequent procession through the streets of the town together with the Municipal Band. Upon their return, they will be received by the AF Güerma and the Yaiza Vocal Group in the church. That same morning there will be a parade through the town and the grand finale will be, in the afternoon, the traditional Meeting of Soloists, which is now in its seventeenth edition.

"The San Marcial del Rubicón 2025 festivities are loaded with a lot of activity, good music and many moments to enjoy with family or friends," says the Councilor for Festivities of Yaiza, Daniel Medina, who reminds residents that they can consult the full program on the municipal website.
