The municipality of San Bartolomé dressed up to celebrate the festivity of its Patron Saint. At 12:00 noon, the Solemn Religious Function began, presided over by Jonathan Almeida, parish priest of Yaiza, assisted by the titular parish priest of San Bartolomé, Francisco José García, and three fellow priests. The homily, proclaimed by the president Jonathan Almeida, focused on the life of the Apostle Saint Bartholomew, who died flayed by order of Astiages, king of Armenia, due to his refusal to renounce Christianity.

The San Bartolomé Polyphonic Choir, directed by Professor Mariola Ferrer, participated in the ceremony interpreting a special repertoire for the solemnity, which culminated with the singing of the “Our Father” in Aramaic, by an anonymous composer. The interpretation received the congratulations of the presiding priest, Jonathan Almeida.

At the end of the Eucharist, the ringing of the bells, the firecrackers and the applause welcomed Saint Bartholomew the Apostle at the portico of the church. Next, the procession began, headed by the Municipal Music Band, directed by Professor Juan Kenty Mauri Cabrera, followed by the image of Saint Bartholomew the Apostle, a carving from the late 18th century. The procession was attended by the celebrating priests, civil and military authorities, presided over by the mayor of San Bartolomé, Isidro Pérez Martín, and numerous parishioners, who together toured the main streets of the town.

Upon returning, while the image of the Patron Saint crossed the portico of the church, it was dismissed with the ringing of the bells and the applause of the public present, thus putting the finishing touch to the festivity of San Bartolomé 2024.
