The Cabildo of Lanzarote, through the Department of Education, is bringing the theatrical adaptation of The Color Monster to the Teatro Víctor Fernández Gopar ‘El Salinero’, a show aimed at children from various educational centers on the island.
The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort, highlights that these types of proposals demonstrate the island institution's commitment to a holistic education, in which emotional and cultural learning is as important as academic learning, especially in the early stages of life.
For her part, the Minister of Education, Ascensión Toledo, emphasizes that "theater is a pedagogical tool of great value," and points out that *The Color Monster* allows for working on "emotional education in a close, creative way, adapted to the youngest ages.""This initiative is part of the institutional commitment to integrate culture and performing arts as educational tools, providing children with their first contact with theater through age-appropriate content focused on emotional development," Toledo indicates
The play, produced by the company Transeduca and co-produced with Tutatis, is based on the well-known book by author Anna Llenas, which has sold over 300,000 copies and has been translated into sixteen languages. With an approximate duration of 45 minutes, the performance is recommended for children between two and seven years old.
The production proposes a journey through the world of emotions through puppets, music, and a carefully crafted staging full of colors and visual poetry. On stage, two actresses and two puppets (the monster and the girl) shape an emotional entanglement that helps children identify and understand basic feelings such as joy, sadness, anger, or fear.
