The time has come to celebrate the 'Playa Blanca Carnival', so the south of Lanzarote is prepared and charging its batteries to enjoy and welcome its visitors and fill the streets with color and joy from next Thursday, March 7 to Sunday, March 10.
There will be four intense days that invite revelry, dressing up, dancing and laughing at life in the always hospitable atmosphere offered by the southern tourist town that encourages its neighbors and visitors to participate in the festival by consulting the program published on the Yaiza Town Council website.
The massive carnival parade will take place on Saturday, March 9, starting at 6:00 p.m. from the vicinity of Flamingo. It is an afternoon and evening enlivened by floats, the good work and showiness of the troupes and the ingenuity of hundreds of masquerades that manage to fill the town center.
But the Playa Blanca Carnival is much more than just the parade, the party kicks off next Thursday the 7th with the 'Canine Carnival' that promotes the meeting of disguised pets, pets that have a home and others that are looking for one through the Animal Protection Area of Yaiza with a clear awareness message about their well-being.
From there, it is a non-stop series of events. On Friday, March 8 in the afternoon there is a parade and performances by the municipality's troupes, 'Yaiseros' and 'Timanfeiros', and at night another show of dance, costumes, choreography and daring that brings together audiences of all ages, the 'Gala Drag', a night starring the best queens of the Canary Islands and ending with a festival enlivened by the live performances of the 'Grupo Bomba' and 'Rikabanda', an orchestra that performs the official song of the 2024 Carnival, inspired by the allegory of the animal kingdom.
The morning of Saturday, March 9 is reserved for the 'Children's Carnival' which this year presents as a novelty the performance of the Teatro Danza Los Originales, made up of students from the CEIP and CEO Playa Blanca and the CEIP Yaiza, who join the children's murga 'Chau Chau' and the artistic show of 'Los Desiguales', the scenic group of the 'Asociación Creciendo Yaiza'.
On Sunday, March 10 in the afternoon, after the hustle and bustle of Saturday's parade and the second night of the festival, comes the closing day with the Daytime Carnival at 12:30 pm. Three orchestras that unleash the desire to dance will be in charge of enlivening the revelry in full sun: the 'Combo Dominicano', 'Grupo Bomba' and 'Rikabanda'.
Next to the central point of carnival enjoyment will be available during all the holidays the energy recharge area, which is none other than the area of food and beverage stalls. The celebration is served, the 'Playa Blanca Carnival' raises its curtain.
