The City Council announces the transport grants for university and higher vocational training students from Yaiza, corresponding to this 2025-2026 academic year, with changes in their amounts. University students from the municipality who prove studies outside Lanzarote will receive 1,200 euros, 300 euros more than last year; for university students who pursue studies on the Island, non-face-to-face or online, the amount to be received is 350 euros; students pursuing higher vocational training outside Lanzarote will receive 500 euros, 150 euros more than the previous year; and for those pursuing higher vocational training studies on the Island, the amount will be 300 euros.
Óscar Noda, mayor of Yaiza, states that “we know the effort families make so that the boys and girls of the municipality can study, especially those who do so outside the Island, who have to face costs of rent, transport, and maintenance. Any help is little, but this year we are increasing the amount of the scholarships to alleviate the economic burden”.
The Institution suggests carefully reading the call for applications and the annexes to be filled out, published on the homepage of the municipal website. “It is important to consult the entire call for applications and submit complete documentation in a timely manner to be able to close the file and proceed with the payments,” points out the Councilor for Education, Silvia Santana. The period for submitting documents runs from May 18 to June 5, 2026, inclusive.
As a basic requirement, Spanish or EU students with habitual and uninterrupted residence in Yaiza for at least 12 months, who are enrolled during the 2025-2026 academic year in public and private educational centers, may access these grants.
Students must provide a photocopy and original for comparison of the document proving enrollment during the current academic year, which includes all subjects or the total number of credits enrolled according to the study plan, and a photocopy and original for comparison of the bank receipt for having paid the academic fees corresponding to the current academic year. Compulsory secondary education, baccalaureate, intermediate vocational training, official language studies, and UNED studies outside Lanzarote are excluded from this call. Applications can be submitted at the General Registry of the Yaiza City Council or at the Institution's electronic headquarters.
