The famous guitarist Pablo Sainz-Villegas visited La Graciosa on January 31 at the Inocencia Paéz Cultural Center in Caleta del Sebo on the occasion of a free recital by the FIMC. The day before, Sainz-Villegas also passed through Lanzarote, hanging the 'sold out' sign at the Convent of Santo Domingo in Teguise. Soon, the guitarist will perform a concert at the historic Carnegie Hall in New York.

These two performances were the last of a tour with which the talented performer toured the entire archipelago, within the framework of the International Music Festival of the Canary Islands.

The people of Lanzarote and Graciosa enjoyed the mastery and talent of an artist who has become an authentic ambassador of the Spanish guitar around the world, and who performed authentic 'jewels' by authors such as Villa-Lobos, Turina, Albéniz or Bach, in addition to assuming the premiere of the work commissioned by the festival to Miguel Ángel Linares.

The Minister of Universities, Science, Innovation and Culture of the Government of the Canary Islands, Migdalia Machín, was pleased with the great reception that the 41st edition of the International Music Festival of the Canary Islands is having on the two islands, "hanging the 'sold out' sign at each concert." In addition, she highlighted how "music and artistic quality have no borders. Proof of this is that the prestigious guitarist Pablo Sainz Villega has been to La Graciosa and will then cross the pond to New York."

The most international Spanish guitar

Pablo Sáinz Villegas is today one of the classical guitarists with the most international projection. He is considered a representative of Spanish culture and many speak of him as the successor of the emblematic musician Andrés Segovia. Moreover, he was the first guitarist to play at Carnegie Hall in New York since his predecessor did so in 1983; but he has also been the first to accompany the Chicago Symphony Orchestra since 2001 and the Berliner Philharmoniker, at the New Year's Concert, since 1983.

Plácido Domingo himself, with whom Sainz Villegas has had the privilege of collaborating on the duet album Volver, refers to him as "the master of the Spanish guitar." And it is not something circumstantial, because his guitar has sounded in more than 40 countries around the world and has managed to summon more than 85,000 people to the Santiago Bernabéu stadium in Madrid, among many other massive events.
