Arrecife will be filled this weekend with activities to promote reading, on the occasion of International Book Day. The capital's Department of Culture has prepared talks, workshops, storytelling, theater and other initiatives for young and old. In addition, there will be a sale of second-hand volumes.
The activities, which are free and open to the public, began at the Children's Library this Thursday with the talk 'History of the Book and Words', by cultural manager and bookseller Tomás Pérez-Esaú.
On Friday, Arminda Arteta will present Adonay Bermúdez's book 'The Dictators. The subversive power of art', an event in which the author will also be present. Next, Eugenio Merino and Miguel Montoya will give the conference 'My story with Franco'. The activity will take place in the Municipal Archive of Arrecife from 7:00 p.m.
La Recova, stage for theater and storytelling
The proposals of the Department of Culture move on Friday to the municipal Recova of Arrecife, where children's workshops will be offered from 5:00 p.m. At 9:00 p.m., the play "From man to man" will be staged by the Island Theater Company.
The activities will end on Saturday with Vicky and Bego's storytelling for babies at 11:00 a.m. and, for a family audience, from noon.
