The mayor of the Haría City Council, Marci Acuña, on his behalf and on behalf of the entire municipal Corporation, has congratulated the resident of the municipality, Eulogio Concepción Perdomo, the only basket maker who keeps this trade alive in Lanzarote, after the recognition received at the Canary Islands Craft Fair.
As explained by the Consistory, the master craftsman was honored "for a lifetime dedicated to pírgano basketry, keeping alive this traditional elaboration of baskets made with the leaves of the palm grove that is located in the Haría Valley".
The City Council values the work of Eulogio Concepción, "fundamental for the maintenance of traditional crafts as a primary element of our cultural heritage, a task that he combined for years with his work as a concierge at the La Tegala socio-cultural center".
