Last Saturday afternoon, the heart of the Historic and Artistic Complex of Teguise, on Calle de Los Arboles, was the place chosen by the management of the Teguiband Association, Banda de Música de Teguise to offer the concert called 'Nightmare After Christmas' and 'The Controls' by Tim Burton and Danny Elfman.
An orchestra made up of 30 very professional musicians who were under the direction of professor Ayoze Rodríguez. The artists masterfully performed a repertoire based on the works composed for 'Tim Burton' films and mostly on the magnificent 'Danny Elfman'. Among them, compositions such as 'March of the Cards', 'Paint it Back', 'The Nightmare Before Christmas', especially highlighting 'Sally's Song', from the movie 'Nightmare Before Christmas'. Some musical pieces that included the intervention of the young singer Virginia Atenea Cedrés Perdomo, ex-student of the Municipal School of Music of Teguise. Her performance was highly applauded by the public that completely filled the capacity located in the middle of the street.
In addition to music, the concert featured an open window to humor, so necessary in these times, a humorous role played by a friendly character 'Batataman', a fictional (Canarian) super hero, brought to life by Iván Curbelo, achieving his goal with flying colors.
To the surprise of those present, it was a concert with an accidental anecdote included. While the public was enjoying and applauding each of the performances, Endesa left the entire environment in darkness. Both all the musicians and the director of the band, Ayoze Rodríguez, did not give up in the face of the blackout and asked the public to light up with their cell phones until the entire program was finished, a request that the public accepted, placing themselves next to the members of the orchestra with their cell phones turned on until the end. As a reward for their collaboration, they were presented with an encore of the series 'The Simpsons'.
As a culmination to end the function, the public stood up and with their cell phones in hand won the battle against Endesa.
