The Haría City Council will begin the San Juan Bautista Patron Saint Festivities, this Saturday, June 14, at 9:00 p.m., with the traditional opening ceremony of the reading of the proclamation, at the Centro
Sociocultural La Tegala. This year it will be given by Juana María Navarro Fernández.
The mayor of Haría, Alfredo Villalba, points out that "these festivities make up the soul of the town, becoming a celebration that unites tradition, identity and joy." "It is an honor to have Juana María as the town crier this year, a woman who represents effort and dedication to Haría," he added.
In addition, after the institutional act of the proclamation, there will be a performance by the renowned Canarian tenor Besay Pérez, who will be accompanied by the pianist Diego Expósito.
A life dedicated to teaching, art and culture Juana María Navarro Fernández, born in Haría in 1955, graduated in Fine Arts from the University of La Laguna and her vocation for teaching led her
to join the teaching staff in 1983, and to obtain the status of professor of Secondary Education in 2005.
Throughout her professional career, she has worked as a teacher in various centers in the Canary Islands, participated as a speaker in courses such as 'Color as therapy in processes for people with cancer' and was also a member of the Guatifay theater group since its founding in 1979.
The election of Juana María Navarro Fernández as town crier of the San Juan Festivities represents a recognition of her professional career, her contribution to culture and her connection with Haría.
