The musical group Gente de Zona is one of the main bets of the Arrecife City Council for the San Ginés festivities. This was announced during the press conference called this Friday at the Casa de la Cultura Agustín de la Hoz, in which the complete festival program was presented and which was attended by Yonathan de León, Eli Merino, Echey Eugenio and the other councilors who participate in the program.

The musical group will liven up the island with its show next Friday, August 25 at 8:00 p.m., combining its songs with reggaeton rhythm with the most traditional forms of Cuban music such as salsa. A musical group known for its great hits such as La Gozadera, with Marc Anthony.

We remind you that the festivities will begin next Friday, August 11, starting at 9:00 p.m. on the emblematic El Reducto beach, with the opening speech and musical performance by the Lanzarote artist and Favorite Daughter of the capital Rosana Arbelo, known as Rosana.

El Charco de San Ginés, the Parque Islas Canarias and El Reducto beach will be the three spaces where the programmed events will take place, which will include the traditional 'Arrecife Folk Festival and Farmer's Festival', as well as concerts, festivals, musical shows, sports competitions, cultural exhibitions, children's activities, fair attractions, games, parades and religious functions, and much more.

Yonathan de León has encouraged "to participate in this celebration so linked to the history of our city and that has a connection with our history as a coastal and fishing port". For the first mayor, the celebration of the patron saint festivities has "a greater external projection because the 225th anniversary of the founding of the parish of San Ginés Obispo, and the beginning of the origin of Arrecife, is commemorated in 2023."

The mayor has pointed out that "the municipal bus service will be reinforced at night to increase the mobility of citizens, a proposal that we are implementing in these San Ginés festivities as an experimental phase."

For his part, the Councilor for Festivities, Echedey Eugenio, has pointed out that "our objective is to rescue the charm of those wonderful festivities that were characterized by the aroma of stalls, the fun of the fair attractions, and above all to recover the essence of our most deeply rooted traditions."

"We have worked to recover a program of events that captures the essence of the old celebrations"

In addition, Eugenio has highlighted that "with this objective we have worked hard from the Department of Festivities to recover a program of events that captures the essence of the old celebrations, when sailors returned to their homes with their loved ones in the month of August."

Also the parish priest of San Ginés, Juan Carlos Medina, has detailed during the press conference the program of liturgical and religious events that will be held for the festivities.
