The Aula del Gusto, in the Plaza de La Mareta in the Villa de Teguise, hosted this Monday the presentation of the Saborea Lanzarote Food and Wine Festival. Everything is ready to kick off this XI edition, which will be held on November 23 and 24.
During the press conference, structured in two round tables led by authorities and representatives of the primary sector and the restaurant industry, the main novelties and the impact that an event of this magnitude has on the destination were discussed, among other issues.
The president of the Cabildo of Lanzarote, Oswaldo Betancort, highlighted the commitment that the institution is making to position Lanzarote as a gastronomic destination. "Through our management model, we have designed a product that can attract those tourists who have an interest in ingratiating themselves with the destination. We are targeting a very specific niche, which shows a special sensitivity towards the territory, its history, its people and its gastronomy; and which, in addition, is concerned about the conservation and protection of that space."
For his part, the CACTs councillor, Ángel Vázquez, stressed that from the Centres "we are working on the construction of new gastronomic experiences that contribute to giving visibility and value to the work and effort of local producers". The councillor has revealed that the Tourist Centres will be presented in the town of Teguise "with a surprising stand, up to what we represent".
Likewise, Olivia Duque, mayoress of Teguise, was satisfied and stated that "the Saborea Lanzarote Food and Wine Festival not only positions the Villa de Teguise and Lanzarote as gastronomic references in Spain, but also has a direct impact on our local economy. This event benefits restaurateurs, producers and suppliers, strengthening the economy, employment and recognition of our primary sector. In addition, it brings our rich gastronomic offer closer to the population, promoting the valorisation of local products and enhancing the connection of our young people with a sector that is key to the future of Lanzarote and La Graciosa".
Finally, President Oswaldo Betancort announced the alternation of this event with the celebration of the Festival de las Cocinas Volcánicas, in Puerto del Carmen. The Saborea Lanzarote Food and Wine Festival will therefore take place again in 2026 in the Villa de Teguise.
The value proposition of the festival, which this year occupies an area of 23,730 m2, was also addressed by representatives of the private sector, such as José Valle, president of the Chamber of Commerce of Lanzarote and La Graciosa, Nereida Pérez, manager of the Regulatory Council of the DO Vinos de Lanzarote, Orlando Ortega, president of the Hostelan collective, and Vanesa Arrocha, CEO of Ava Selección.
Main novelties of this edition
A new payment method will be implemented, through rechargeable cashless wristbands. This modality, which will coexist with the traditional ticket sales system, will allow payments to be made at the different stands of the festival, improving the security and comfort of the event.
The gastronomic offer, with the participation of more than 120 exhibitors that will make up the Gastromarket, also incorporates new spaces. There will be a handmade bread workshop; as well as the Aula Chinique, where Canarian cuisine becomes the protagonist; the Aula de Gastronomía Líquida (cocktails); and the Burger Fest, a space specialised in the elaboration of hamburgers with a local touch, which also arrives with the contest "The Best Burger".
Likewise, in addition to the chefs already announced, such as Jordi Roca (Celler de Can Roca), Diego Guerrero (DSTAgE) and Eduard Xatruch, from Disfrutar, great names are added to the list: Álvaro Garrido (Mina), Benito Gómez (Bardal), Luis Valls (El Poblet), Jesús Sánchez (Casa Marcial), and Lucía Freitas (A Tofona), who will participate in the Aula del Gusto, among others, adding a total of 20 Michelin stars. In total, between local and those from other destinations, 90 restaurateurs meet at the event.
Established spaces and activities
The Aula Chinijo Chef, one of the most acclaimed of the Festival, returns from the hand of Sofía and Víctor with an "exquisite programme". The Wine Classrooms, with the participation of 19 wineries, and the Sea Classrooms, with its traditional tuna ronqueo, in addition to the presence of other destinations through the stands of Saborea España and Saborea Atlántico Medio, together with the Casa del Producto Canario "Canarias Sabe", complete a tour of what, for two days, becomes the gastronomic city of Spain.
You can consult all the information of the event and also as a novelty this year, explore and expand all the details of each space and exhibitor on the interactive map.
The Saborea Festival is organised by the Cabildo de Lanzarote, the Art, Culture and Tourism Centres of the Cabildo de Lanzarote and the Teguise Town Hall.
