The hall of IES Playa Honda has been converted into an exhibition hall, where local artists will be able to regularly showcase their work. The exhibitions can be visited by appointment once the current Covid restrictions are lifted, as reported by the San Bartolomé Town Council.
Lanzarote artist Fran Rodríguez is currently exhibiting in this space. A sample that the students of the center have been enjoying since this Tuesday and until February 25, and that will be open to the public once it passes the phase and can be visited, calling the phone 928 819 052, where date and time will be assigned.
The IES Playa Honda, with the support of the Department of Culture of the City Council of San Bartolomé, aims to respond "to the shortage of art galleries" in the municipality, betting "to consolidate this space as another reference in our island." The project will also enable an exchange between the students of the center and the artists through talks, workshops, creation of murals, etc.
The program for this course will host works by Fran Rodríguez, Sara GDM, Emma López Leyton and Damián Rodríguez, as well as a sample of works from the Pancho Lasso Art School.
The mayor of San Bartolomé, Alexis Tejera, congratulates the IES Playa Honda, its director Yolanda Luis, teachers and the project coordinator, Raquel Plans, for this "exciting initiative" and for putting a cultural space more within the reach of local artists, showing his firm support for this space, 'El Hall'.
In addition, the first mayor is certain that "it will become a room open to different artistic disciplines and currents of cultural flow, wishing that the link is the close interaction with the students, sharing projects and different forms of expression that fill the students of the center with enthusiasm and opening of horizons and artistic goals."
